.... A terrifying glimpse inside the minds of two Georgetown "graduate" chefs.

Testamonial from Paul M., a satisfied customer:

"When I first met Melissa, she was eating ramen noodles out of a pot on the floor of an asbestos ridden dormitory. Beauty, they say, is in the eye of the beholder. One year later, it was decided that this woman should be given what could charitably be called an apartment, and accurately be called The Crack Den.
Thus it began. Slowly, methodically, alcoholically, they cooked. Good food, fun food – food for the family. Indeed, like the turkey at Thanksgiving or the doughnuts at AA, from the beginning Melissa and Erin have made food designed to bring people together.
I can personally attest to the quality of many, if not all, of the recipes mentioned on this blog. They have created – and erased – many priceless memories that I will both treasure forever and never get back.
Reading many of these posts, you may begin question your understanding of how ingredients are chosen or measurements deduced. This is not a blog that begets analysis. The genius of Melissa and Erin is in their utter ignorance of social conventions, common knowledge, and grocery store proximity. They are fearless. They will never surrender to a missing ingredient, or even five. They craft a cake from construction paper and sugar and you will melt. They will combine the last shards of four types of questionable cheese, and you cry, “ce fromage est excellent!” They will conquer a taco from the depths of their cupboard, and you will shout, “Me encanta la comida de estas chicas!”
There are times when I think back to that asbestos ridden dormitory, and I wonder what Melissa would do differently. The pot would remain, the ramen too, but somehow I believe our lives would have been even richer. These women are the only two I know who can turn fear into chocolate, love into pie, asbestos into a margarita. And so, my friends, I invite you to reach out, rise from the ashes of your long-departed dignity, and ask: what’s for lunch?"
